Vascular remodeling in ischemic disorders and cardioprotection.

The research program of the team CarMe aims at uncovering the mechanism of the cardiovascular remodelling leading to ischemic disorders. Cardiac and vascular remodelling will be investigated in diseased conditions including the main risk factors affecting arterial wall structure and function taking into account aging and sex differences.

The objective is to discover new therapeutic targets and new recommendations for a better prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disorders.

A first objective is to investigate the role of mechanosensitive channels and receptors involved in vascular remodelling with an of the effect of pressure and shear-stress on GPCR activation and mechanosensitive Sodium channels.

Another objective is to investigate cardiovascular remodelling in diseased conditions with the interaction of veins and arteries in atherosclerosis and aneurism, cardiac injury, chronic kidney disease and arterial calcification.

Finally, we also investigate the influence of the environment on cardiovascular remodelling: sedentariness, endocrine disturbers and maternal metabolic diseases.
